The tragic death of Eric Garner is a prime example of justice delayed is justice denied. Eric Garner and his family deserve better. Millions of Americans watched as a man’s life was taken and five years later, the wound of his death in our hearts has been re-opened. The Department of Justice’s decision to drop charges against Officer Pantaleo further divides the connection between law enforcement and the community. I call on the Mayor of the City of New York to take all disciplinary actions allowable against Officer Pantaleo and bring justice to the Garner family. We need accountability and proof that the blindfold of justice is removed and that the arc of history truly bends toward justice.
