Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon and Senator John E. Brooks Host 4th Annual Dyslexia Awareness Day in Albany

Students, advocates, and educators highlight the need for Dyslexia legislation

Albany, NY – On Thursday, March 14th, 2019, Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon (D-Brooklyn) and Senator John E. Brooks (D-Long Island) will host the 4th Annual Dyslexia Awareness Day in Albany. Students with dyslexia, parents, educators, and advocates from across New York State will attend to share their stories, promote a better understanding of dyslexia, and highlight the need for dyslexia-related legislation (early screening: A5259-A; teacher training: A6450). The event will feature a panel of people with dyslexia, including Helen Foster, Commissioner of the NYS Division of Human Rights, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and others. The day will also feature guest speakers on education and technology and legislative visits.
