Hevesi, Volunteers Gather at Frank Principe Park for Maintenance Check In and Bench Painting

Maspeth, NY – Friends of Frank Principe Park, Partnerships for Parks, and the office of Assemblyman Hevesi joined this weekend to conduct a maintenance check in of Frank Principe Park in Maspeth.

With supplies being provided by the Parks department, more than 15 volunteers affiliated with local civic groups joined the effort, with additional park goers pitching in as the effort was carried out, bringing the total participants to more than 30 individuals.

The volunteers collectively repainted 27 benches and cleared refuse from the main walkways. Assemblyman Hevesi and organizers also discussed prospective options moving forward to improve the site.

“With redistricting extending my district into Maspeth, we wanted to get out to Frank Principe as we have with all other parks in our district. It’s a great location with great amenities. There are certain areas needing improvement, and we’ve been talking with local organizers about getting state resources to help out. We’re looking forward to seeing what we can get done.” said Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi (28th Assembly District).

“Friends of Frank Principe Park would like to thank all the volunteers, Partnerships for Parks leader Giuliani Lopez and Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi for making this a huge success. We are growing in numbers and will continue our efforts to make sure this park gets the much-needed improvements and funding so all the great neighbors of Maspeth can enjoy.” said Lance Lovejoy with the Friends of Frank Principe Park.

“I would like to add my thanks to Andrew Hevesi for his concern, support of our park. His participation is a shining example of what a community can do together to get things done.” said Phyllis Criscuoli with the Friends of Frank Principe Park.
