South Queens, NY - Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) hosted her annual Women of Distinction Event on Friday, March 26th over Zoom in celebration of Women’s History Month. The event, attended by over 80 people between Zoom and Facebook Live, highlighted the numerous contributions to our community made by the seven Women of Distinction. The Women of Distinction, Jeanette G., Liz H., Patricia J., Barbara M., Tiffanie P., Maria S., and Monika W. were recognized for their contributions across a variety of fields including healthcare, law enforcement, childcare, and community service.

“There was no better way to end Women’s History Month than by honoring and sharing the stories of the unsung heroes of our district - especially in front of their friends and families,” Pheffer Amato said. “The Women of Distinction represent everything that makes our district great - they are hardworking, strong, and compassionate individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and life experiences. Together, these experiences create the beautiful mosaic of the 23rd Assembly District, and I was so proud to share their experiences during Friday’s event.”

This was the 3rd Women of Distinction event the Assemblywoman has held - the first was in 2018, followed by 2019 which were both in-person. This was the first Women of Distinction held over Zoom. The event was put on pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nominations were accepted from February 12th until March 12th and came from all corners of the district.
