Pheffer Amato Attends State Hearing on Impact of COVID-19 on NY’s Veterans

South Queens, New York This past Friday, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens), participated in an online public hearing to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on New York’s Veterans. The purpose of the hearing was to explore veteran-specific impacts of COVID-19 including, the provision of care at State veterans’ nursing homes, access to health and mental health service, loss of employment opportunities, and ways to protect veterans from future adverse impact. The hearing was hosted by the Senate Standing Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs and the Assembly Standing Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and the Assembly Subcommittee on Women Veterans.

“During these unprecedented times it is vital that our veterans and their families have the care and support that they not only need but deserve,” Pheffer Amato said. “As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I was honored to hear from so many of our brave men and women on how best to address COVID-19 concerns at the State level for all of our veterans who have been impacted by this pandemic.”
