Assemblyman Colton and Councilmember Zhuang Announce Another Successful Cleanup
A crew of approximately 50 volunteers aged seven to 85 pitched in to beautify the community during a cleanup organized by Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) and Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D— Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Gravesend, Dyker Heights, Boro Park and Sunset Park).
The cleanup, done in partnership with the Chinese American Social Services Center (CASS), took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with volunteers meeting up at Seth Low Park and fanning out from there.
“Despite the heat, we had another successful cleanup on Saturday,” said Assemblyman Colton. “I continue to be impressed by and grateful for the commitment shown by area residents, who are determined to make the community in which they live better for everyone. That so many people, children to older adults, should choose to dedicate several hours on a Saturday to picking up trash and clearing catchbasins is really inspirational.”
Assemblyman Colton has led community cleanups focusing on the area’s bustling business areas for over a decade, aided by Councilmember Zhuang, his then-chief-of-staff. The duo will continue to sponsor cleanups along the neighborhood’s busy commercial strips through the summer and fall.
The next cleanup will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., beginning at Seth Low Park. People interested in participating should reach out to Assemblyman Colton’s office, at 718-236-1598, or by emailing contrinoa@nyassembly.gov.
