Assemblyman Colton, Councilmember Zhuang to Kick Off Summer Cleanup Series

Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) and City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D—Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Gravesend, Dyker Heights, Boro Park and Sunset Park) are gearing up for their first neighborhood cleanup of the summer, and are urging local residents to join them in beautifying the community.

The cleanup will take place on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 11 a.m.Participants will meet at 29 Bay 25th Street and fan out from there. Previous cleanups have focused on local parks and shopping strips, with destinations often defined by input from neighbors and constituents who see a situation that needs to be improved.

“Our community cleanups are incredibly important,” said Assemblyman Colton. “Not only do they beautify the neighborhood, making it an even better place to work, live and raise a family, but they bring residents together with a common goal of improving the place they are proud to call home. People of all ages have been joining us in our cleanups for years. Senior citizen groups are as likely to participate as high school students who need community service credits, and everyone comes away with the satisfaction provided by a job well-done.”

“Our community is always in need of cleanup and I spend every day trying to ensure the city pays attention,” said Councilmember Zhuang. “This cleanup is not only important to ensure we enhance our quality of life but to showing city government we care about our district and we need them to care too. Everyone deserves clean and safe streets. Please make sure to volunteer!”
