Assemblyman Colton Welcomes New 62nd Precinct Commanding Officer

Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) joined other local leaders on Thursday, August 14 at a luncheon at the 62nd Precinct to welcome the precinct’s new commanding officer, Captain Mohammed Islam.

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to get to know our new precinct commander, Captain Islam,” said Assemblyman Colton. “As the precinct tackles both crime and quality-of-life issues, cooperation between police, residents and local officials, all working together on behalf of the neighborhood, is of paramount importance. Captain Islam well understands that building bridges between cops and community is essential, and I am confident that Captain Islam will continue in the tradition of prior commanders who have made it a priority, to the benefit of everyone who lives and works here.”

The luncheon was hosted by the 62nd Precinct Community Council and Chinese American Social Services.
