Local Patriotic Displays Saluted by Assemblyman Colton

Just in time for July Fourth, Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) has been searching out the homes in southwest Brooklyn where Old Glory proudly waves.

Recently, the assemblyman drove around the district looking for houses whose owners had the American flag displayed.

“Seeing the Stars and Stripes in front of so many houses warms my heart,” Assemblyman Colton said. “It means so much to so many – members of the military, veterans, the families of those who have given their lives in this country’s service, among them. And, for all, it is a heartfelt expression of the pride Americans feel in their country. Many of these flags came out at Memorial Day, or Flag Day, and remain on display in the lead-up to Independence Day, but many stay up year-round, as permanent displays of the residents’ love of their country, and the immutable principles for which it stands. Now, and every day, I say, ‘Hurrah for the Red, White and Blue.”

The assemblyman will send out letters congratulating the homeowners on their displays, and is continuing to look for more homes in his district where the Star-Spangled Banner is showcased.
