Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein Brings Baseball Legend and Yankees 3X World Series Champion Jim Leyritz to Visit the Children of Camp Simcha
Glen Spey, NY – New York Yankees legend Jim Leyritz brought an afternoon of baseball, excitement and inspiration to the children of Camp Simcha who are battling serious illness, a visit arranged by New York State Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein.
Leyritz is best known for his unforgettable three-run home run in Game 4 of the 1996 World Series, a dramatic moment that helped turn the tide for the Yankees in that series and sparked the late 1990s Yankees dynasty, which won four championships in five years.
During his visit, Leyritz played baseball with the campers, shared tips and expertise, and encouraged them to keep fighting. He was deeply touched by the children he met and inspired by their courage. Leyritz shared the story of his legendary home run and the determination it took to come through in a crucial moment. “I was down to my last strike, and I didn’t give up,” Leyritz told the campers. “Remember that! As long as you have one strike or one breath left, you can overcome just about anything.”
