Smullen: 2025 Legislative Session Had Highs and Lows

A Statement from Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) in response to the end of the 2025 Legislative Session.

“The 2025 Legislative Session yielded both highs and lows for our state. I was very proud to see my Alexander John Smullen Traffic Safety Memorial Law unanimously passed in the New York State Assembly and Senate. I was also very happy that my colleagues and I in the Assembly Minority Conference successfully stopped Assembly Bill A.4881 from moving forward, a proposal that would have allowed special elections to be delayed around the state.

“Unfortunately, my proposal to allow school districts in New York state to opt out of the electric school bus mandate was blocked by Albany Majority lawmakers. But I will continue to fight back against the electric vehicle mandate mayhem unfolding statewide and ensure deadlines are extended for New Yorkers to be able to adjust to new zero-emissions standards.

“Next session, I will continue to work hard to represent the people of the 118th Assembly District in Albany. I look forward to passing common-sense legislation in a bipartisan fashion that benefits all of the constituents of our Assembly District and the state of New York.”
