Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) is helping spread the word about a Recruitment and Retention Leadership Workshop in the Town of Mohawk Fire District. The workshop will discuss personnel retention and recruitment challenges fire departments and EMS organizations in upstate communities and throughout the state have faced. It will also analyze how proper leadership and organizational culture can have a positive impact on recruitment and retention.

“Our local fire departments and EMS organizations need our help,” said Smullen. “To properly respond to emergencies in our communities, our first responders need to have the numbers and training to answer the call and save lives. This workshop will help spark discussion on how to get personnel recruitment and retention turned around throughout our state, and I look forward to seeing other workshops like this held in other communities in the near future so we can support our first responders.”
