Smullen Calls for Increase in Medicaid Reimbursement Rates to Assist Medical Transportation

Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) is calling for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates across rural areas in response to the closure of ACCESS Transportation in Fort Plain. ACCESS Transportation is a service in the Capital Region that transports Medicaid clients around the area. They have provided an incredible service to the community since their inception in 1998.

“The loss of medical transportation is a great loss to our community, and it threatens to further endanger public health,” Smullen said. “I am asking my colleagues in Albany to join me in calling for an immediate increase in Medicaid reimbursement rates for rural areas so medical transportation companies across our state can continue to operate and save lives.”
