Rozic's Office Helps Process Over 500 Unemployment Claims

Flushing, NY – Since the start of the pandemic, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, WF-Fresh Meadows) and her office have flagged and helped process over 500 unemployment insurance claims with the New York State Department of Labor (DOL).

In April, the statewide unemployment rate increased from 4.1% to 14.5%. Due to the pandemic, the DOL has experienced an unprecedented influx of claims, causing the website to crash and phone lines to be overwhelmed. In response, Rozic’s office quickly shifted to assisting with unemployment support all day, every day. Additionally, Rozic and her team continue to field hundreds of other questions, concerns, and issues facing the community on a daily basis.

Assemblywoman Rozic said, “Although the state hired an additional seven hundred employees to process claims and launched a new online application, people are still struggling through this process.”

“With hundreds of constituents in need of support to help navigate the state's unemployment system, my office has stepped up to put constituents first and ensure that their issues are resolved,” Rozic added.

Rozic encourages constituents to reach out to her office for help filing claims by emailing rozicn@nyassembly.gov.
