Mineola, NY – New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages recently accompanied interns from her office on an educational tour of the Nassau County Supreme Court, providing them with a firsthand look at the judicial system and the professionals who help it function.

The interns began the visit in the chambers of Acting Supreme Court Justice Phil Solages before observing the court’s calendar and proceedings in the courtroom.

The experience allowed these young students to see how cases are managed, how court personnel work together and how the judicial branch serves Nassau County residents.

Following the courtroom observation, the interns heard presentations from Judge Solages and several court professionals, including Commissioner of Jurors Donna Christensen, Deputy Chief Clerk Vivienne Corbett, Principal Court Reporter Melinda Leon and Senior Court Clerk Imani A. Johnson.

Each speaker discussed their responsibilities, professional journey and role within the court system.

The program concluded with a virtual presentation from attorney Noah J. Hanft, a former general counsel of Mastercard Worldwide and an experienced arbitrator and mediator, having also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution in New York.

Hanft discussed dispute resolution, mediation and his career in the legal profession.

The tour was part of Assemblywoman Solages’ continued effort to provide interns with practical educational experiences and greater exposure to careers in government, law and public service.
