Assemblyman Matt Simpson Welcomes NYSSMA Students from Ticonderoga and Peru to State Capitol

Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack) recently welcomed talented New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) students from Ticonderoga and Peru to the state Capitol. The young musicians toured the historic building and experienced the workings of state government firsthand. Their visit highlights the importance that music education has in North Country schools. The groups were led by Mike Iturrino of Ticonderoga, who serves as board president of We Are Instrumental, and Todd Pray of Peru, who serves board secretary of We Are Instrumental.

“It was a pleasure meeting these outstanding NYSSMA students from the district,” said Simpson. “Their talent and hard work remind us why we must continue supporting music programs that enrich lives and build brighter futures for our kids. A special thank you to Mike Iturrino and Todd Pray for their tireless efforts in advancing music education across our region. Their work makes events like this possible and helps ensure every student has access to these opportunities.”
