Simpson Calls for People Over Politics in Response to Governor’s State of the State

A statement from Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack)

“While the governor rightfully acknowledged the crushing affordability challenges facing hardworking New Yorkers like skyrocketing energy bills, child care, health care and everyday essentials that are increasingly out of reach, she failed to take any real accountability for the policies that got us here,” said Simpson.

“I appreciate her focus as we all share that common goal of making life more affordable for New Yorkers. That said, her administration’s past policies, including significant spending increases, added bureaucratic layers and persistent unfunded mandates, have contributed to these very pressures, and it’s important for us to acknowledge that as we move forward.

“Rather than dwelling on differences, I’m ready and eager to work with the governor, my colleagues in the Legislature and representatives from all sides to find fundamental, bipartisan solutions that truly put New Yorkers first,” Simpson concluded.
