Simpson Pushes for Extended Hearings and Comments

NYSERDA is holding public hearings regarding the state’s draft energy plan, but not for North Country residents.

Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack) is calling on the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to schedule in-person public hearings in the North Country for the Draft State Energy Plan. While a virtual hearing is set for September 30, many North Country residents may lack access to reliable broadband, making participation difficult.

“The North Country’s voice must be heard on New York’s costly energy plan,” said Simpson. “With no in-person hearings scheduled, residents are left without a real opportunity to weigh in on policies impacting their wallets and energy choices. I urge NYSERDA to hold in-person forums in the North Country and extend the public comment period an additional 90 days to January 4, 2026, to ensure our communities have a seat at the table.”
