Brabenec Stands with Senate, Assembly Colleagues to Bring Down Energy Costs
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark) stood in support of a joint press conference to highlight the state’s flawed energy policies and the steep price New Yorkers will pay if Albany does not change course.
A memo issued by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) last week confirmed projected cost increases of more than $4,000 annually for upstate residents and $2,300 for New York City residents once the state’s energy mandates are fully implemented.
Today’s event also served as an opportunity to remind the public that Minority lawmakers have been raising concerns about these policies for years. Additionally, they reiterated their commitment to lowering costs for working families through the “Lights On With Energy Relief” (LOWER) policy proposal.
“While working families are simply trying to pay their bills and make ends meet, the policies coming out of Albany are making energy costs even more expensive,” said Brabenec. “NYSERDA’s memo did not reveal anything new. It confirmed the reality that ratepayers across our state have been experiencing for years. New Yorkers do not need more mandates or regulations. They need common-sense policies that bring down costs and promote energy choice.”
