Building Tomorrow’s Leaders: Our Summer Intern Program

A Column from the Desk of Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark)

Every summer, our district office is energized by the talented young people who join our team as interns. These high school and college students come ready to learn, to serve their community and to see firsthand how state government works. I am always grateful for their help and proud of the work they do.

Our interns play an important role in delivering the strong constituent services you’ve come to expect from my office. They answer phones, schedule appointments, assist residents with navigating state agencies and help at community events. Their efforts make sure that every question gets answered and every concern is addressed.

The program is also about opening doors for the next generation. Interns sit in on meetings, attend community functions and watch how ideas become laws in Albany. They get a true hands-on education in public service. They see what it means to listen to people, to solve problems and to work hard on behalf of neighbors. These are lessons that last a lifetime.

This year’s group of interns has been outstanding. They’ve brought fresh energy, helped residents through complicated state programs and handled every task with professionalism and heart. Watching young people gain confidence and grow their understanding of civic life is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

If you know a student in high school or college who wants to learn about public service or explore a career in government, I encourage them to apply for our internship program. It is a chance to gain real-world experience, build skills and make a difference in their own community.

To learn more or to apply for a future internship, please have them call my district office at (845) 544-7551.

The next generation of leaders is right here in the Hudson Valley. Giving them the opportunity to serve, learn and grow is an investment in the future of our community, and I am honored to play a part in it.
