Mikulin: Early Release of Prison Inmates Will Threaten Public Safety Statewide
April 2, 2025
Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C-Bethpage) and his colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference addressed serious concerns over the early release of inmates as a direct result of the ongoing staffing crisis in New York prisons. Mikulin and his colleagues are demanding the governor and DOCCS reconsider the decision to release New York prisoners early.
“I strongly oppose the early release of inmates from New York prisons,” said Mikulin. “The governor and DOCCS should be focused on correcting the staffing shortages in New York state’s prison system rather than taking the easy way out and releasing inmates early. This decision will threaten public safety in our communities statewide.”
