Assemblywoman Giglio Encourages Students to Apply for Chime Scholars Foundation Scholarships
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead) is encouraging students and families across her community to take advantage of a new scholarship opportunity through the Chime Scholars Foundation, which is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The Chime Scholars Foundation provides scholarships of up to $20,000 to students of all backgrounds pursuing higher education or workforce training, including college degrees, apprenticeships, trade schools, technical programs and professional certifications. Applications are open now through Mar. 31, 2026.
“Higher education and workforce training should be accessible to every student, regardless of their background or financial situation,” said Giglio. “Programs like the Chime Scholars Foundation help remove barriers and give students the support they need to pursue their goals, whether that’s earning a degree, learning a trade or gaining valuable workforce credentials.”
Since launching in 2022, the Chime Scholars Foundation has awarded $7 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 students nationwide through Chime’s 1% pledge to expand access to education. According to the foundation, the program has demonstrated strong outcomes:
- 100% of surveyed graduates said the scholarship helped them complete their degree or certification
- 87% of scholars are projected to graduate, nearly double the national rate of Federal Pell Grant recipients
- 72% secure employment in their field within six months of graduation
Giglio emphasized the importance of sharing opportunities like this with students and families who may not otherwise be aware of available resources.
“I encourage eligible students in our community to explore this opportunity and apply,” Giglio said. “Investing in education and workforce development strengthens our local economy and helps ensure a brighter future for Long Island.”
