Giglio Statement on End of 2023 Legislative Session

“Despite my frustrations with several policies pushed forward during this legislative session, I do think there is some good to remark on. The governor backed down on her disastrous housing agenda, saving Long Islanders a lot of headaches. The Legislature and governor’s office were able to reinvest a considerable amount into childcare, which will go a long way to getting people back to work and ensuring children are taken care of when they do. But the problems we still face—affordability, inflation, public safety, immigration—were not discussed in our last week in Albany, and I’m concerned will only get worse the longer they go unaddressed.”
