McDonough Introduces Local Constituent Attending West Point

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) commemorated West Point Day at the state Assembly on Wednesday, May 1. McDonough was thrilled to be joined by and introduce his constituent and West Point Cadet, Matthew Montera, to the Assembly. This annual event has a special place in McDonough’s heart, as he is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Coast Guard.

“Today, we honor the nation’s greatest military institution and one of New York’s oldest pillars of national defense,” McDonough said. “West Point has produced some of the finest soldiers our nation has ever known, responsible for keeping our country prosperous and free over 200 years after we won our freedom from Great Britain.

“It was my privilege to have Cadet Matthew Montera join me on the Assembly floor to celebrate West Point Day and the many great Americans who have devoted themselves to the institution and our country. I continue to pray for the success of Cadet Montera and all of our Cadets who represent the future of leadership of our great Army,” McDonough concluded.

Cadet Montera is a native of Bellmore, NY and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 2017. The son of Vincent and Camie Montera, Cadet Montera is slated to graduate from the Academy in 2021 and is currently majoring in Civil Engineering.
