Reasonably Reopen NY

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) is standing alongside his peers in the Assembly Minority Conference to call for a responsible analysis to reopen parts of the state that aren’t as heavily affected by COVID-19. DiPietro is worried that the financial impact will far outweigh the medical one if the quarantine is enforced in areas with barely any cases.

“It’s time we take a look at regionally reopening,” DiPietro said. “A week ago, my colleagues and I called for a region-by-region assessment with specific protocols and a tangible plan to be delivered by April 30. Well, we’ve heard some tacit words of agreement from the governor and administrative recognition by people in the governor’s office, but New Yorker’s livelihoods continue to be at stake. New York is in dire financial straits and we all deserve more than, ‘we’re looking into it.”
