West Point Day Recognizes Contributions to National Defense

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C-East Aurora) joined his fellow legislators in Albany to honor the distinguished members of the United States Military Academy (USMA) on West Point Day. Recognizing the invaluable contributions of West Point to the nation’s defense and leadership, DiPietro underscored the enduring significance of the civilian-military relationship.

Established by President Thomas Jefferson in 1802, the USMA has stood as a pipeline of excellence in producing leaders of character. With a rich history spanning over two centuries, the Academy continues to uphold its mission of educating, training and inspiring cadets to serve their country with honor and distinction.

“West Point Day serves as a reminder of the deep bond between our civilian and military communities. It is a testament to the mutual support and trust that supports our nation’s strength. We must respect and uphold this relationship as we strive for a more secure and prosperous future,” said DiPietro.

“As we commemorate West Point Day, I want to remember the words of President Thomas Jefferson: ‘I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.’ May we uphold the values of liberty, guided by the principles of honor, courage and commitment instilled by the United States Military Academy,” DiPietro concluded.
