Hochul Order to Hold Legislative Session Remotely Leaves Needs of New Yorkers On the Back Burner

A Statement by Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie)

“As legislators, our constituents look to us to lead during challenging times. We are elected to do the people’s work, and help families, small businesses and local governments contend with the rapidly changing circumstances they face in their daily lives. By unilaterally issuing an executive order to hold legislative session remotely, the governor has weakened our ability to collaborate in person to ensure the laws we pass work for all New Yorkers. This is a time when we should be working harder and more closely than ever to get things done, because the convenience and comfort of elected officials should never take precedence over the urgent needs of New Yorkers.”
