Glen Cove Police Getting New Vehicles with Lavine Grant
Glen Cove, New York – The Glen Cove Police Department will soon have several new vehicles added to its growing vehicular fleet thanks to the efforts of Assemblymember Charles Lavine. A $200,000 grant Lavine secured will enable the department to purchase two state-of-the-art patrol cars and two marked Harley-Davidson motorcycles. According to the department, the patrol cars will replace existing high-mileage units. They will incorporate the latest onboard technology and safety features and provide improved fuel efficiency. The new motorcycles will be used for traffic enforcement and in various situations where traditional patrol vehicles are less effective, such as at special events controlling crowds and as part of parades and funeral processions.
“I am pleased to help the Glen Cove Police Department with this grant, which will enhance its ability to achieve its primary goal of protecting the safety of the residents of the city,” Lavine said.
