Lavine Statement in Response to Attack on Brooklyn Chabad

Albany, New York – New York State Assemblymember Charles Lavine has issued the following statement in response to the attack on the Chabad Lubavitch world headquarters in Brooklyn on Wednesday night:

“While I am understandably outraged by this latest antisemitic attack, it saddens me on a personal level as well, having been educated as a boy by a member of the Chabad Lubavitch and keeping close ties to it throughout my life. The attack on this beloved place comes just one day after the brazen hate-fueled assault on a rabbi walking to synagogue in Forest Hills, Queens on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and a week after swastikas were painted all over a Gravesend, Brooklyn park, reminding us that with antisemitism showing no signs of slowing down, now more than ever, we must fight hate through education.”
