Maher on the Death of Charlie Kirk

A statement from Assemblyman Brian Maher (R,C-Walden) regarding, commentator and youth leader Charlie Kirk being fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of Charlie Kirk. My heart goes out to his wife, Erika Frantzve, their two children, and all who mourn his loss. Words cannot fully capture the grief that so many are feeling right now. Charlie was a prominent voice whose impact reached far and wide, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who admired his work, his convictions, and his dedication.

In a moment when our nation is already grappling with rising political tensions, this act of violence strikes at the very foundation of civil discourse. Regardless of our political differences, there is never a place in our democracy for such senseless, politically motivated violence. We must stand united in rejecting it.”
