Assemblyman Santabarbara Statement on Visitation in Group Homes

“This announcement is welcome news and a sigh of relief for many families,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, chair of the New York State Assembly’s Sub-Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorders. “As a parent of a child with autism, I understand the difficulty these families have endured over the past 3 months having their loved ones with disabilities isolated in these state facilities. Children and adults have been without the physical support of their family, some non-verbal and unable to even use a smartphone for Face Time to communicate with their parents. These individuals need to see their families again.”
