Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey Honors Pavilion/York Air Rifle and York Girls Volleyball Teams in Albany
Yesterday, Assemblywoman Andrea K. Bailey (R,C-Geneseo) welcomed members of the Pavilion/York Air Rifle Team and the York Middle/High School Girls Varsity Volleyball Team to the New York State Capitol, where they were honored for their exceptional achievements during the 2025–2026 athletic season.
Individual and team championships are among the most sought-after accomplishments in high school sports, and Bailey proudly recognized these student-athletes for their achievements, dedication and commitment to excellence, serving as outstanding examples for youth across New York State.
“These teams have demonstrated remarkable determination, teamwork and discipline,” said Bailey. “Their commitment to excellence both on and off the field is truly inspiring. The countless hours of practice, the resilience they’ve shown in the face of challenges and the way they represent their schools and communities make them stand out as role models. It was a privilege to honor them in Albany and celebrate all they have accomplished.”
The Pavilion/York Air Rifle team earned top honors at the New York State Rifle Invitational, capturing the State Championship in the Three-Position Event. The team secured its place at the state level after winning both the Section V Three-Position and Standing Championships, demonstrating exceptional skills throughout the season.
The York Middle/High School Girls Varsity Volleyball Team achieved a historic milestone during the 2025 season, capturing its first-ever NYSPHSAA Class D State Championship. Finishing with an outstanding 19-1 overall record, the Golden Knights showcased exceptional teamwork and skill throughout their championship run.
During their visit, both teams toured the Capitol, met with Assemblywoman Bailey, Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C-Batavia) and Sen. Pam Helming (R,C-Canandaigua) and were formally recognized with official proclamations honoring their achievements.
Bailey remains committed to recognizing the accomplishments of student-athletes and supporting programs that promote teamwork, leadership and healthy competition across the 133rd Assembly District.
