June 11, 2025
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the legislative session nears its close, I have two important updates.
I’m proud to share that the Medical Aid in Dying Act, which I authored, has passed in both the Assembly and Senate—a historic step forward in giving New York's terminally ill adults the compassionate option to end their suffering with dignity.
On a deeply troubling note, on June 1 demonstrators in Boulder, Colorado, who were peacefully calling for the release of Israeli hostages, were attacked with a makeshift flamethrower. Fifteen people were injured in this horrifying act of antisemitic violence. We cannot let antisemitism be normalized—we must speak out and confront it wherever and whenever it appears.
Even as we face turmoil and uncertainty at the federal level—especially around healthcare, the budget and national policy—our work here in New York continues with purpose. I remain fully committed to passing thoughtful, effective legislation that improves lives, protects rights, and reflects our shared values.
Sincerely,
Amy Paulin
NYS Assembly 88th District
