Welcome to my NY State Assembly website. This is the place to stay informed about my activities and I invite you to come back often for news about my work on behalf of the people of the 30th Assembly District.
As a life-long resident of Maspeth and a mother who has worked for 30 years to improve the quality of life in my community, I am proud to be an elected official in order to continue the community service I began as a neighborhood activist, volunteer member of my local Community Board, and continued in City government where I worked on economic development and tourism for Queens.
Now in my 16th year in Albany, I have worked hard to increase funding for education, health care and seniors and enact legislation to benefit consumers and those in urgent need. I am proud to have also secured millions of dollars in funding for important Queens cultural institutions and for community organizations in the 30th District that provide vital services to our neighbors.
Among my legislative responsibilities, my work as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development gives me the opportunity to help improve the economy of our city and state, and my work on the influential Ways and Means Committee helps ensure funding for needs that are important to us.
As always, please contact my office for help with a community problem or issue.
Margaret M. Markey
