         printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

       AN  ACT  in  relation to directing the commissioner of transportation to
         issue a permit exempting certain signs

         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

    1    Section  1.  The  commissioner of transportation is hereby directed to
    2  issue an exemption pursuant to section 342-i of the highway law for  any
    3  sign  that  was constructed in reliance upon a building permit issued by
    4  the city of Watertown in 2008; provided,  application  is  made  to  the
    5  commissioner  of transportation within 180 days of the effective date of
    6  this act.
    7    S 2. The commissioner of transportation  shall  promulgate  rules  and
    8  regulations  specifying  the proof required to establish reliance stated
    9  in section one of this act.
   10    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
