AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prohibiting the
sale of dogs born on puppy mills by pet dealers
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
2 753-f to read as follows:
3 S 753-F. RESTRICTION ON SALE OF DOGS BORN ON PUPPY MILLS. 1. FOR THE
4 PURPOSE OF THIS SECTION "PUPPY MILL" SHALL MEAN ANY BUSINESS WHICH
5 BREEDS DOGS FOR SALE TO PET DEALERS AND SELLS OR TRANSFERS MORE THAN
6 SEVENTY-FIVE DOGS FOR THE PURPOSE OF RESALE TO OTHERS.
7 2. A PET DEALER OR OTHER PERSON SHALL NOT SELL, PURCHASE OR RECEIVE
8 ANY PUPPY BRED, SOLD OR TRANSFERRED BY A PUPPY MILL.
9 S 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall
10 have become a law.
