TITLE OF BILL:

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Establishes a program that provides grants to businesses for the purpose
of preventing crimes against the business.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Establishes a program to provide grants to businesses primarily engaged
in retailing a limited line of groceries, including but not limited to
bodegas, convenience stores or food marts, except those operating fuel
pumps, for the purpose of preventing crimes against such business
including the installation of panic buttons and surveillance equipment.
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
Shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall become
a law.

AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to enacting "the bodega
act of 2025"
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known and may be cited as
2 "the bodega act of 2025".
3 § 2. Section 837-a of the executive law is amended by adding a new
4 subdivision 10 to read as follows:
5 10. Establish a program to provide grants to businesses primarily
6 engaged in retailing a limited line of groceries, including but not
7 limited to bodegas, convenience stores or food marts, except those oper-
8 ating fuel pumps, for the purpose of preventing crimes against such
9 businesses including for the installation of panic buttons and surveil-
10 lance equipment.
11 § 3. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
12 it shall have become a law.
