Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb Receives Community Partner Award from 2-1-1/Life Line
'Providing people with information and access to help during a crisis are among the most important things we can do in the community.'

New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) said he is honored to receive the 2-1-1/LIFE LINE Community Partner Award, and will continue his steadfast dedication to serving those in need of its services.

"Providing people with information and access to help during a crisis are among the most important things we can do in the community," Leader Kolb said. "I am truly honored to receive the Community Partner Award and look forward to working with 2-1-1/LIFE LINE to further increase awareness and promote the invaluable services it offers."

The 2-1-1/LIFE LINE is a program of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes and has been part of Goodwill since 2005, and has served the Greater Rochester region since the 1970s. 2-1-1/LIFE LINE is a mixed referral and information service for human service organizations and a crisis intervention hotline. Some of the information callers seek includes; where to find emergency food and shelter, what happens when the utilities turn off, and where they can access mental health counseling. It operates in conjunction with the National Suicide Prevention Line, the Veterans Crisis Hotline and the Disaster Distress Helpline.

"Assembly Minority Leader Kolb has championed 2-1-1/LIFE LINE's work to the many constituents in his district and with his colleagues in Albany during budget discussions and throughout the legislative year," said Carol Borsa, VP of Mission Services at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. "He has supported the Early Help Seeking Community Impact Campaign and other collaborative efforts to increase the awareness of 2-1-1/LIFE LINE among agencies that can benefit from its services. Assemblyman Kolb is truly a valuable partner."

A National 2-1-1 Day celebration event was hosted earlier today from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 500 South Clinton Avenue. Attendees from community-focused agencies celebrated the crucial services 2-1-1/LIFE LINE provides and discussed how to strengthen their partnerships with the program to increase impact and benefits to those in need of its assistance.

Anyone in the community can contact 2-1-1/LIFE LINE by dialing 2-1-1 or by going online to its website.
