Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) Announces Bill To Make Rifle Hunting Permanent In Ontario County Passes Assembly

Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua) today announced that his bill to make rifle hunting permanent in Ontario County was passed in the Assembly. The legislation (A.6900-A) introduced by Leader Kolb, makes local hunting opportunities even more attractive in the region.

"This is great news for local sportsmen and women and visitors who enjoy Ontario County's vibrant hunting opportunities," Leader Kolb said. "Hunters have experienced safe and successful big-game seasons since rifle hunting was allowed in Ontario County two years ago. Making permanent the ability to use rifles was a priority for Ontario County and is welcome news for New York's sporting community."

Ontario County passed a resolution earlier this year to formally request the permanent use of rifles for big-game season. The bill was passed in the Senate in May, and now moves to the Governor's desk for signature. Hunting season for deer and bear in Ontario County begins November 21.
