New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) is pictured (standing) speaking during the New York State Association of Small City School Districts Annual State Budget Seminar on Tuesday, March 18 in Albany. Leader Kolb addressed major issues facing the education system including implementation of the Common Core standards, unfunded mandate relief, and the need for districts statewide to receive support in the State Budget negotiations.

Leader Kolb highlighted the Achieving Pupil Preparedness & Launching Excellence (APPLE) Plan, which includes solutions that would restore the Gap Elimination Adjustment for school districts and stop the rushed implementation of the Common Core State Standards before a new round of tests are given in April.
