Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) & Assembly Minority Conference Welcomes Assemblyman Palumbo To Albany
New Long Island Assemblyman Sworn in During Albany Ceremony

Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) and his colleagues today proudly welcomed Assemblyman Anthony H. Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) to the New York State Assembly at a public swearing-in ceremony for the newest member of the Legislature. Assemblyman Palumbo represents the 2nd Assembly District. Today's swearing-in ceremony was held at the Capitol Building in Albany, with the Hon. Matthew J. Turner, Troy City Court Justice presiding over the event.

"I am honored to be joined by Minority Leader Brian Kolb and my Assembly Minority colleagues today as I am officially sworn in as the representative for our families on Long Island," said Palumbo. "I look forward to using my experience to strengthen and promote our local businesses, create good paying jobs and restore the public's trust in their representatives by eliminating the corruption that has run rampant in Albany."

Before being elected to the Legislature, Assemblyman Palumbo served as an assistant district attorney for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted hundreds of cases on the misdemeanor and felony levels. He was promoted to the position of Trial Supervisor to the five Eastern Suffolk Towns and left the district attorney's office in 2004 to enter private practice as a partner in a small Mattituck law firm.

"I am proud to welcome Assemblyman Palumbo to Albany and I am confident he will have an immediate and positive impact as a member of our Conference. His impressive victory in the 2nd Assembly District demonstrates that New Yorkers believe in the same principles that guide the Assembly Minority. Our shared commitment to lowering taxes, reining in government spending and fighting public corruption will be critical during the upcoming legislative session and beyond," Leader Kolb said.

"His efforts to protect small-business owners from the rising costs of big government, reducing government spending and controlling property taxes in Suffolk County and across our state will make New York a better, more affordable place both today and for future generations," said Kolb.

Anthony H. Palumbo was elected in a Special Election held on November 5, 2013. His district includes the North Fork of Long Island in Suffolk County. Anthony and his wife, Tracy, reside in New Suffolk with their two children.
