New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) is pictured (above, speaking at podium) calling for an amendment to the state constitution that would allow voters the ability to hold recall elections. Leader Kolb was joined at the press conference by Members of the Assembly Minority Conference in support of the proposed legislation.
The proposed bill (A.6161/Tedisco) would allow voters the ability to remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before his or her term has expired. Leader Kolb discussed the need to restore public confidence in the wake of recent arrests and indictments of elected officials. Kolb added that recall elections will help regain the public's trust and reinforce the power they have as an electorate.
