Statement From New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua) On Gov. Andrew Cuomo's 2013 State Of The State Address

"As we begin 2013, there is no shortage of critical issues requiring our attention. We must come together to make our state a better place to work, live and raise a family by fixing our economy and reducing government's size and cost to taxpayers.

We need to continue working together and finish the people's business, including:

  • Growing and creating more jobs, jobs, jobs;
  • Reducing the size and cost of state government, including consolidating the Thruway Authority and the Department of Transportation;
  • Providing local tax relief for municipalities and school districts by reducing Albany's unfunded mandates; and
  • Creating a better economic horizon for working families by making the 2011 Middle Class Tax Cut permanent.

These smart solutions are just the beginning of my yearlong effort to make state government more accountable and improve the quality of life for all New Yorkers in 2013. Working together, we can accomplish great things for the people of the Empire State."
