Lawler: We Stopped Governor Hochul's Plan To End Local Control Of Zoning

A statement from Assemblyman Mike Lawler (R,C,I,SAM-Pearl River) in response to Governor Hochul's move to remove her ADU proposal from the budget.

Pearl River, NY, 2/17/2022… "Over the last few months, I, along with a bipartisan coalition of state legislators and local officials, worked tirelessly to stop the radical proposal put forth by Governor Hochul and several of my Majority colleagues that would have all but eliminated single-family residentiial neighborhoods and ended local control of zoning throughout New York State.

"After numerous meetings, letters, and press conferences in opposition to this plan, tonight Governor Hochul announced she would be pulling it from the state budget.

"I'm proud to have led the opposition to this measure, and look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure it never sees the light of day - now or in the future."
