Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,C,I-Glen Head) is pleased to announce the New York State Department of Education has awarded 232 construction grants across the state to local libraries, totaling $34 million. Two of the grants are being awarded to libraries in the 15th Assembly District, the Bethpage Public Library and the Locust Valley Library.
“I am happy to announce these grants that will help reconstruct our state’s libraries,” said Montesano. “It’s always great to see funds go directly back into our communities. These grants will not only rebuild our libraries but give our youth a place to learn for decades to come. Thank you to the Department of Education for making this possible.”
The Bethpage Public Library will receive over $238,000 to reconfigure the library so it can better serve the needs of a modern audience and create a room for young adults. The Locust Valley Library will receive over $5,000 to create a new team room and replace an emergency exit. These construction grants come from a $34 million dollar capital fund appropriated from the 2019/2020 State Budget.
