Byrnes Fighting For Relief during Covid-19 Outbreak

A statement from Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes (R,C-Caledonia)

“Due to the current climate we are all experiencing, I want to assure New Yorkers that we are working for you,” said Byrnes. “Last week, we voted on a paid sick leave bill in response to the restrictions placed on employees during this public health crisis. In regard to the budget, Gov. Cuomo is still pushing for various policies that don’t have a place in such trying fiscal times. I want to assure my constituents that I am fighting for the small businesses, families and general public that need relief immediately. We are still expected to return to Albany to complete the budget by April 1.

“I’ve been hearing from people everywhere that they have been affected by COVID-19. Even if they haven’t been infected, they are suffering the economic consequences that are surfacing. Just the other day, I spoke with a woman who works at my dry-cleaner who was worried about losing her job because of the lack of customers filing in. I am responding to situations like these with a heartfelt message: we will get through this. I am committed to keeping everyone abreast of relevant bills that could provide financial relief to New York as a whole.”
