Byrne Honors Putnam Businesses with First District-Wide ‘Best in Business’ Competition

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I, SAM,ROS-Mahopac) recently completed a tour of Putnam County businesses to recognize the winners of his inaugural Best in Business competition. The content was created by Byrne to honor and highlight all the businesses within the 94th Assembly District that served he community through the extraordinary challenged caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of the district were able to vote for their favorites business in 20 categories.

The contest was done in collaboration with various chambers of commerce and business organizations throughout the 94th Assembly District, including the Brewster Chamber of Commerce, Putnam County Business Council and the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce. Byrne previously honored the Westchester business winners at the end of September.

Essential has become an overused term in the past year, but the truth is our local businesses are essential,” Byrne said. “They create jobs, provide products and services, contribute to our economy and tax base. And are vital parts of what makes our communities so great.”

This past year has only magnified the value of local businesses as they were forced to adapt to every-changing restrictions from our state and local governments. Many, including those, which provide dental services, had to directly advocate to their state representatives just to they could continue to provide the quality care their customers rely on. These entrepreneurs employ our friends and family, are civic leaders, and take pride in their profession.

“It was an honor to meet all of this year’s winners, hear their stories of perseverance and hard work, while having the opportunity to thank them,” Byrne said. “I would also like to thank all of our Putnam County partners from the various chambers of commerce and business associations who worked with us to promote the competition and highlight these remarkable local businesses in our community.”

“The Brewster Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have been part of Assemblyman Kevin Byrne’s‘2021 Best in Business’ contest, and we are incredibly proud of the number of winning businesses from Brewster, most of which are Brewster chamber member,” Candice Sciarillo, president of the Brewster Chamber of Commerce, said.

“We love and appreciate all our businesses in the Mahopac-Carmel area, and we’re happy to work with Assemblyman Byrne to recognize everything they do for our community,” Michael Celestino, CEO of the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce, said. “Congratulations to all our winning businesses and thank you to all our local businesses for their service to our area.”

“We are thrilled to see our local businesses being recognized,” Michael Bucci, Board Chairman of the Putnam county Business Council, said. “These awards are well deserved and we want to recognize the hard work, sacrifices and long nights that went behind the earning of these awards. Congratulations to each of these businesses and a special thanks to the residents in Assemblyman Byrne’s district who voted.”
