Byrne Meets with Yorktown Residents and Discusses Issues at Trailblazing with Byrne

Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) is pleased to report the successful completion of his fourth Trailblazing with Byrne event of the year on Saturday, June 26th. Byrne held the event in the Town of Yorktown at the Yorktown Heights Trailhead behind town hall, which is part of the Westchester County Trail-way and the larger Empire State Trail.

Byrne met with constituents in-person for over an hour of Q & A, before taking a walk along the Empire State Trail to continue the discussion, promote healthy living and take in the natural beauty. The discussion included several important topics concerning local and state issues which included traffic congestion along state roads, the history and importance of our parkways and parks, and legislation Assemblyman Byrne authored that recently passed to provide Yorktown the ability to bring in additional solar power and revenue. Additionally, Byrne and the residents in attendance spoke about pressing concerns surrounding our schools, including some controversial proposals that could impose versions of critical race theory (CRT) in some school districts.

The event had a number of local residents, concerned parents, and local officials in attendance, including Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater and Yorktown Councilman Ed Lachterman. Yorktown Chamber of Commerce President Sergio Esposito and former Peekskill City Councilman Joe Torres were in attendance as well.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our fourth Trailblazing with Byrne event this year.” said Byrne. “These forums help to provide an additional opportunity for me to engage with members of our community. Not only did we get the chance to discuss a wide variety of important issues, but we got some fresh air, exercise and enjoyment from viewing the beautiful scenery along the trail. We still have two more of these forums to schedule for the residents of Putnam Valley and Patterson. I look forward to continuing them this summer.”

This concludes the first round of Assemblyman Byrne’s Trailblazing with Byrne events having already held forums in Mahopac/Carmel, Southeast and Somers.

Additional Trailblazing with Byrne events are being planned for the towns of Putnam Valley and Patterson in the 94th Assembly District. Visit Assemblyman Byrne’s website www.nyassembly.gov/byrne to learn more.
