Representatives of Green Chimneys welcomed Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,Ref-Mahopac) for a tour of its facilities on Monday, April 10. Not only is the school, which is currently celebrating its 70th Anniversary, one of Putnam County’s largest employers, but it has also cultivated a reputation as one of the most innovative in the state by educating and caring for young people facing a large variety of needs. By integrating animals and nature into its educational and therapeutic programming, Green Chimneys provides not only unique and beneficial learning experiences for students throughout the 94th Assembly District, but a safe and supportive environment for young people to establish lasting connections with their family, community and environment.

"I've had the privilege of visiting Green Chimneys through various community events in years past, but I never truly understood how many beneficial services they provide for Putnam County’s residents and visitors,” said Byrne. “Touring this facility was an absolute pleasure, and I look forward to continuing to serve as a partner and advocate for this worthy organization in the state Assembly."

On Sunday June 4, Green Chimneys will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its annual "Birds of Prey" event. The festivities will feature over 100 birds of prey on display with falconers from across New York and Connecticut, as well as free-flying bird demos, live animal presentations and activities for the entire family.
