Assemblyman Skoufis Announces Grant to Upgrade a Wastewater Treatment Plant

May 25, 2018

Assemblyman James Skoufis (D-Woodbury) has announced a $65,000 grant to assist in the upgrade of the Windsor Estates Wastewater Treatment Plant in Hamptonburgh, NY.

Repairs and new filters will allow sewage to be properly treated so that the effluent from the treatment plant complies with a costly New York State Department of Conservation (NYSDEC) mandate. Windsor Estates is comprised of 49 homeowners, and this order would have had an outsized impact on a small community. The grant will significantly reduce the taxpayer-funded burden of the project on the development’s residents.

“The NYSDEC order would have been a tremendous expense had Assemblyman Skoufis not helped out,” said Supervisor Jankowski. “The residents are appreciative of the Assemblyman’s consideration in helping us be able to afford the required work.”

“When Supervisor Jankowski approached me looking for assistance on this, I went straight to work,” explained Assemblyman Skoufis. “The last thing local taxpayers need is a surprise hit on their wallet – this grant will alleviate the project’s cost and keep families’ hard-earned money in their pockets, where it belongs.”
